Fleet Support Group – case study

Background
Fleet Support Group (FSG) is the largest independent fleet management company in the UK managing more than 40,000 vehicles.

Working in partnership with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), FSG developed 'RiskMaster' - a tailor-made, on-going, road-risk management programme to help create a safer working environment for drivers of company vehicles.

FSG invited LawsonClarke PR to launch 'RiskMaster' to a target audience ranging from fleet operators and company car drivers through to the business community, voluntary sector and road safety organisations.

The Challenge
To differentiate 'RiskMaster' in a market swamped by occupational road risk management solutions.

The Solution
To set 'RiskMaster' apart from the competition by putting the focus on the potential cost-savings to be made by implementing a risk management programme, as well as promoting a safe driving culture and corporate social responsibility.

Using the results from a pilot 'RiskMaster' scheme, LawsonClarke PR prepared a case study to illustrate how insurance premiums were cut by 40%, maintenance costs were reduced by 15% and accidents dropped by 20%, following the implementation of the 'RiskMaster' programme.

To raise awareness of the 'DIY' version of the 'RiskMaster' programme, LawsonClarke PR researched and wrote a case study on a pilot scheme about to launch in the voluntary sector, highlighting how vulnerable the voluntary sector is in the event of a road traffic accident.

The Results
A series of case studies were placed across trade publications ranging from Fleet World, Fleet Van, Commercial Motor and Company Car through to Occupational Safety & Health Journal and Community Transport.

Key industry publication, Fleet News, ran a news story on the cost-saving benefits of 'RiskMaster' and FSG Chairman, Geoffrey Bray was interviewed by Fleet World for a company profile. General press release coverage was also achieved in industry and vertical publications.
