UPSIZE YOUR HOME THE SIMPLE WAY - WITH A GREEN ECOSPACE STUDIO

New WorkPod option now available from around £10k - an Ecospace adds value to your property and is far cheaper (and simpler) than moving home, or building a traditional extension or loft conversion

Upsizing your home the simple way is now even more affordable with the new WorkPod addition to the Ecospace range - the original and best contemporary garden studio.

With prices starting from around £10k for the new WorkPod model, consumers can now choose from three different price options across the Ecospace range of architect-designed garden studios; around £10-£15k, under £20-£30k for a ‘standard’ studio, or above £30k and beyond for a spacious, self-contained solution.

This non-stressful way to boost your live/work space and add value to your property is far cheaper (and faster) than moving house, or building a traditional extension or loft conversion.  A modular Ecospace studio provides a contemporary, multi-purpose solution for home working, guest space, a home gym, playroom, or even a full house - in as little as 12 weeks from enquiry to completion (including a typical installation period of about five days).

The new WorkPod, from around £10k

Ecospace WorkPods are compact, ergonomically designed workspaces for one person and are a contemporary, practical solution for home workers needing separate, but affordable year round workspace.  The WorkPod measures 2.5m x 1.9m, while the WorkPod Plus measures 3.1m x 2.5m.   Prices start from around £10k for the WorkPod, or £14k for the WorkPod Plus, VAT and delivery excluded, installation included.  With optional integral work station and storage systems, they provide a cost-effective and productive working environment.

Ideal for restricted spaces, the WorkPod is more cost effective than renting office space and is typically installed in just four days.  Made from the latest Structurally Insulated Panel Systems (SIPS) and clad in natural larch wood, the WorkPod also has double-glazed windows, energy efficient lighting and underfloor heating system.  A service wall with sockets, data and telephone points bring your home office to the garden.

Ecospace studios - the benefits

In most cases you can order your studio and have it erected without any planning issues with the smaller models.  In some circumstances - for example, if it exceeds certain size parameters, or you live in a designated area with planning restrictions, planning permission may be required.  But because Ecospace studios are designed and produced by architects, Ecospace can also carry out any planning applications for you.

Ecospace studios meet the growing trend for home working as rising numbers of e-workers and home-based business owners see the work/life benefits of working from home.

For home owners simply requiring an extra room or flexible living space, the studios offer an affordable way to increase home square footage.  And the total flexibility of an Ecospace studio means you can choose a modular or bespoke-size studio, and fit it out to meet your exact specifications (there are 100s of combinations), and all at a fixed price - without those extra unexpected costs typical of building projects and expensive over-runs.  A traditional extension will cost far more, take much longer to build, and has the added stress of finding a suitable builder and project-managing the works for weeks, if not months.

Once you’ve decided on the required size and usage of your studio, you then choose your design of studio - flat or mono-pitch roof, and specify the ‘plug in’ modules you require to extend the live/work area.  Configurations and window positions can easily be altered to suit your particular space and personal requirements.

The green bit:  Pretty much everything is eco with an Ecospace!  The structure uses sustainable wood and cedar cladding from renewable, certified sources, and is manufactured in the UK.  Ecospace studios are designed to maximise energy efficiency with high insulation values through thick multi-layered floors, walls and roofs, using the latest in Modern Methods of Construction.

The optional low maintenance sedum** planted roofs improve insulation and create green space, while low energy Scandinavian underfloor heating, high performance insulation and Scandinavian double-glazing will ensure you stay warm in the coldest winter.  And, of course, if you use it as your workplace you will reduce your carbon footprint by cutting out commuting.  The buildings also require virtually no maintenance, treatment, or re-decoration to external or internal walls.  Ecospace can even integrate renewable energy options including solar panels, ground and air source heat pumps, wind turbines, biomass boilers and log burning stoves.

** The sedum roof is planted with small plants, herbs and succulents.

And, minimal site preparation is needed as long as the site is relatively flat - so there’s no need for a conventional concrete base or foundations as the building is engineered to simply lie upon adjustable steel shoes.  The fast track Ecospace installation service also means that once onsite, the studio is fully insulated, heated and ready for use in just days.
