KYB TO COMPETE IN DAKAR RALLY AGAIN
Supported by KYB, Team Ukyo is competing again in the grueling Dakar Rally, which takes place between 5-19 January 2008.
The team, which includes Ukyo Katayama (driver) and Naoya Saiki (navigator) will cross four countries including Portugal, Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal and is using bio-fuel again this year to power their vehicle across the desert.
As well as having no harmful effect on the environment, this clean fuel also provides excellent performance and enhanced power.
The team’s Toyota Landcruiser has been developed to take on the look of a racing car and is fitted with KYB shock absorbers. KYB supported the design process and developed a robust suspension system to protect the vehicle from being shaken apart in the arduous desert conditions.
In the 2007 event, the team completed the challenging 9,000 kilometre course in 78 hours and 54 minutes, finishing16th in its category.
With one in four new cars fitted with its shock absorbers, KYB is the largest supplier of original equipment (OE) shocks in the world, and continues to consolidate its position as a global manufacturer.
