ENGLAND RUGBY CAPTAIN OPENS NEW SYNERGY GYM AT ALDERMAN SMITH SCHOOL
England and Leicester Tigers rugby captain, Martin Corry, has officially opened a new Nautilus-supplied gym at Alderman Smith School in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
Part of a new £2.3 million sports development centre at the comprehensive school, the Synergy gym has been supplied with some of the latest commercial series products from Nautilus including its EV916 variable stride ellipticals and T916 Treadmills.
Awarded Sports College status, Alderman Smith School is a regional centre for promoting excellence in physical education and community sports, and aims to extend links between local schools, sports bodies and the wider community, as well as increasing participation in sports and developing the potential of talented performers.
Nautilus has also supplied a range of CV and strength equipment to the new Synergy gym including StairMaster and Schwinn Evolution indoor bikes to enable children to exercise without putting stress on joints, to more advanced strength training products such as Nautilus Nitro for older members of sports teams, teachers and external gym members.
Additional facilities available at the centre include netball, basketball and badminton courts, a dance studio and full changing rooms. Says Paula Bellingham, director of PE and Sport: "We chose Nautilus fitness equipment as we were impressed with the quality of its products, full training programme and after-sales package."
"At our school every child takes a fitness option to improve fitness levels, develop talents and encourage wider sports participation. The new gym has been eagerly anticipated by all our students and by opening it to external gym members outside of the school day it will also be self-funded."
Already awarded the prestigious Sportsmark Gold Award by Sports England in recognition of the school’s commitment to physical education and sports provision, the new sports development centre builds on Alderman Smith School’s leading status in comprehensive sports education and development.
