RICHMOND VILLAGES WINS UNANIMOUS VOTE FOR RETIREMENT DEVELOPMENT IN ASTON ON TRENT
Richmond Villages, an award-winning company that builds and operates retirement villages around the UK, has been granted detailed planning permission to build a new development in Aston on Trent, suitable for anyone over the age of 55.
Councillors voted unanimously for the scheme, located in Willow Park Way, which will offer a variety of accommodation and 24 hour nursing care, plus a range of excellent facilities. Richmond Villages plans to commence building work in November, with a view to the development being complete by 2010.
Regardless of a person’s state of health, there is a ‘living option’ to suit. The Village Apartments, available to purchase, offer a more independent lifestyle and are designed to make life as easy as possible. These apartments are ideally suited to the more physically able, or a couple where one partner may need some care and assistance with activities of daily living. These well-designed homes include a kitchen, living room and one or two bedrooms, the majority also having an en-suite bathroom.
Those requiring more assistance can opt to buy one of the Serviced Apartments. These include a spacious living room, kitchenette, one or two bedrooms and an en suite shower room and are a real alternative to a room in a residential care home. Residents benefit from varying care packages provided by Richmond’s on site domiciliary care team, and hotel-style services that include food, beverages, daily maid service and laundry.
A nursing home will be located at the heart of the village and this will have superbly appointed bedrooms for those requiring 24-hour care. A further unit will comprise dementia care bedrooms and dementia care apartments for couples.
Keith Cockell, founder and managing director of Richmond Villages, says: “We are very pleased to have received the green light for our retirement village in Aston on Trent. We pride ourselves on offering a real alternative to a conventional care home, a place where people can enjoy the excellent facilities and feel part of a friendly community while doing as much or as little as they like. Many residents can live more independently within the village and for those who need some help, our dedicated team of on-site 24-hour care and nursing staff offer great peace of mind.”
The facilities will include a restaurant, an IT room and library, craft rooms, a café, wellness spa and swimming pool. The development will nestle in beautifully landscaped grounds with woodland walks, and offer superb views of the Derbyshire countryside. The village is well-located, with Derby around seven miles away and Nottingham 15 miles; the M1 (Jct 24a) is approximately three miles.
Demand for Richmond Villages’ properties is high and the company sells many off-plan before they are built. Prospective buyers/residents may wish to visit the company’s other villages: Richmond Painswick in Gloucestershire; Richmond Northampton; Richmond Coventry and Richmond Nantwich in Cheshire.
