SAFE AND SOUND AT RICHMOND COVENTRY

All is safe and sound at Richmond Coventry retirement village, following a visit by Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) who took time to advise residents on crime prevention and personal safety and security.

Their advice included information on how to deal with bogus callers and avoid the latest scams, and what residents can do to make their homes more secure. They gave out leaflets and showed a video, and residents were given the chance to raise any concerns they may have regarding crime.

Village to get a 'bobby' on the doorstep!

Kevin Russell, PCSO 6113 and Kim Olner, PCSO 6171, from Bedworth Police Station, are also planning to set up a base at the retirement village, where their presence would offer reassurance to residents.

Louise Thompson, village manager at Richmond Coventry said: “The elderly can understandably feel quite vulnerable when it comes to their personal safety and security of their home and belongings, but the officers gave them lots of very valuable hints and tips on ways to protect themselves. Obviously we have staff on site 24 hours a day, but it will also be great to know that there will be a 'bobby' literally on our doorstep. The residents are delighted that they will be able to get to know them, and that there will be regular opportunities to speak to them about safety and security.”

PCSO Kevin Russell said: “It is everyone's responsibility to reduce the opportunities for crime, and a few simple precautions can help lessen the risk of it happening. This also helps the police, by giving them more time to tackle serious crime – making our neighbourhood a safer place to live in.”

Richmond Coventry, conveniently located between Coventry and Nuneaton, offers a range of two bedroom luxury village apartments, serviced apartments and care bedrooms with 24 hour nursing care, providing residents with different levels of independence to suit all needs. With its own bowling green and landscaped gardens, the residents can enjoy peace, security and a sense of community, as well as superb facilities including a restaurant, shop and hair and beauty salon.
