THIRD NATIONAL AWARD FOR RICHMOND PAINSWICK

Richmond Painswick, a striking retirement village in Painswick, Gloucestershire, has received a Highly Commended award in the Assisted Living category at the recent Daily Telegraph Your New Home Awards.  Paul Jackson, operations director for Richmond Villages, the company that built and operates the village, was presented with the award at a glittering ceremony at The Globe Theatre in London.

Richmond Painswick has been open for less than a year and already this is its third national award, with the village winning the What House? Gold in the Best Retirement Village category, and the Daily Mail Property Awards in the Best Retirement Development category.

Keith Cockell, founder and managing director of Richmond Villages, says:  “This latest award recognises the value of assisted living (also known as extra care) which we have pioneered for ten years, believing this to be a much more desirable alternative to a lonely bedroom in a conventional care home.  Our serviced apartments each have a spacious living room, kitchenette and one or two bedrooms, and an en suite shower room.  Residents benefit from varying degrees of care tailored to suit their personal requirements and all the facilities in our villages.  For many, still having their own front door and a sense of independence, is hugely important.”

The care and services in Richmond Villages’ serviced apartments include all meals and drinks served in the apartment or the restaurant; cleaning, a laundry service, heating and lighting; security, including a 24-hour emergency call system to on-site carers; a bespoke care package and use of all the facilities and activities within the village.

Richmond Painswick, built in the Cotswold vernacular, also offers a wellness spa with three treatment rooms, a large swimming pool, sauna, steam room and a fully-equipped gymnasium.  The restaurant is on a par with that of a five-star hotel, and communal areas include an elegant drawing room, a smart library and rooftop gardens.  There’s an extensive programme of recreational activities, and vehicles to take residents out for appointments, shopping and day trips.

At the heart of the village is the care centre, with superbly appointed nursing care bedrooms for those requiring 24-hour nursing care.  Convalescent and respite care is available for those who either wish to give their full time carer a break, or for those people who are convalescing after a stay in hospital.  Convalescent and respite care can either be in a care bedroom or within a serviced apartment, depending on the individual’s requirements.

For those who wish to benefit from all the on-site facilities but don’t require assistance (although this can be provided if required), the village includes a range of independent village apartments; however these are currently sold-out and there is a waiting list.

Prices for one bedroom serviced apartments at Richmond Painswick start at £199,000.  Care bedrooms are available with a weekly fee of £800.  A service charge is made per property (not the care bedrooms) to cover ground maintenance, external property maintenance, a daily mini-bus service, buildings insurance, window cleaning, administration and security.
