RICHMOND COVENTRY WINS THE BEDWORTH SOCIETY AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENT

Richmond Coventry retirement village has been presented with the Bedworth Society* award for outstanding environmental improvement for the new accommodation at its property in Bedworth.

The awards run every two years and six awards were presented at the 2007 ceremony, held recently at the civic hall in Bedworth.

This prestigious award is given to developments that enhance and improve the surrounding area. Richmond Coventry was chosen in recognition of its new Abingdon and Boveney assisted living apartments, new restaurant and lounges.

Keith Cockell, founder and managing director of Richmond Villages, says: "It is a real honour to be presented with this award from the Bedworth Society, which is recognition of the hard work done by architects and builders initially, and now all the staff and villagers at Richmond Coventry who have made this building what it is.

“A special mention should go to our gardeners, Neil Claybrook and Gareth Yarnold, who have been able to transform a building site into wonderful gardens in such a short time.”

John Burton, president of the Bedworth Society, said: “Richmond Coventry was worthy of an award because of the exceptional finish of its new buildings. We were very impressed with the thought that had gone into the new development at the village.”

The Richmond Coventry retirement village was expanded and refurbished at a cost of £5.4 million, and offers a range of cottages, bungalows and apartments for independent living. There are also serviced apartments, each with its own sitting room, bedroom with en suite and kitchenette,

with hotel-style services for those who need some assistance. The village also has 50, 24-hour nursing care bedrooms.

A range of facilities are provided on-site, including a bowling green, beautician, hairdressing salon, library and two restaurants (with menus offering contemporary and traditional cuisine) and a variety of social clubs. Richmond Villages also has its own on-site domiciliary care agency.
