Background Information - Richmond Letcombe Regis Retirement Village
Richmond Letcombe Regis will be ‘up and running’ from early 2010 when the first residents move in. There is currently a showhome complex (as many sales are off-plan) which includes a Village Apartment (for independent living), an Assisted Living Apartment (for those who require some help) and a Care Bedroom, demonstrating the different types of accommodation and care available within this striking new retirement village.
The £60m Richmond Letcombe Regis development will have a wellness spa with a swimming pool, gym, health and beauty treatment rooms and a hair salon; other facilities include a café, restaurant, shop, IT room and library, craft rooms and a bowling green.

The superb location of this retirement village near Wantage, just 10 miles north of junction 14 on the M4, makes it easily accessible for those living near Newbury, Oxford, Reading, Swindon and West London.
The village includes a range of apartments for those who are well and can live independently, but safe in the knowledge they are in a secure and sociable community where care and assistance are close at hand if needed. These large apartments - averaging 1,000 sq.ft. in size - have a kitchen, living room and one or two bedrooms, with en suite to the main bedroom.
The Assisted Living apartments are ideal for those requiring some help with daily living. The apartments include a spacious living room, kitchen, one or two bedrooms and an en suite bathroom.
Paddy Brice, managing director of Richmond Villages, says: “Assisted Living bridges the gap between independent living and full-time care. It means residents can enjoy having their own home without the worry of cooking and daily chores. We prepare all meals, which can be taken in a resident’s apartment or the restaurant, and there’s a daily maid and laundry service. Our own on-site domiciliary care team provides help, as much or as little as is needed, 24-hours a day. The Assisted Living package also includes all utility bills and full use of the facilities within the village.
“We’ve been providing Assisted Living for more than 10 years and residents tell us they like having the best of both worlds; the independence of having their own front door together with the assistance and peace of mind we can give them.”
The arrangements are ideal for couples where, for example, one is not as well as the other and requires assistance and regular checking. The spouse who is well can still enjoy a full and active life both within the retirement village and beyond, knowing their loved one is being looked after in an environment they both enjoy.
At the heart of the retirement village will be a care home for those requiring 24-hour personal and nursing care, part of which will be dedicated to specialist dementia care called a Memory Lane Community.
The sales office is located in a beautifully restored and thatched former gatehouse; this will be converted into a café and shop for residents and the local people of Letcombe, once all the homes are sold.
Surrounded by beautiful countryside, nestling beneath the Ridgeway and just a few miles from the ancient White Horse chalk carving, the new village has been designed to complement the vernacular of the South Oxfordshire/Berkshire border. The buildings are finished in a traditional, warm and welcoming dark brick and flint style, with the whole site enjoying a rural location with landscaped gardens, a meadow with a nature trail, a large lake and a brook. This nature reserve will have disabled access and is being managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust. It will also be open to the public.
Independent Living apartments with one or two bedrooms, each with its own en suite, are priced from £295,000. Assisted Living apartments are priced from £240,000.
The sales office at Richmond Letcombe Regis, South Street, Letcombe Regis, Oxfordshire, OX12 9JY is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and 10am to 4pm Saturday to Sunday. To arrange a visit, register interest or for further information, please call Sharon Hunt or Mark Young, the Village Advisors, on 01235 773970 or visit www.richmond-villages.com.
