A fully equipped wellness spa is central to the facilities available to residents at its retirement villages at Painswick in Gloucestershire and Letcombe Regis in Oxfordshire, and will also feature at the company’s new villages at Witney, Oxfordshire and Aston-on-Trent, Derbyshire when they open next year.

“I have been a resident at Richmond Painswick for six years and the wellness spa is a really important element in my life,” says Peter Grover.  “I swim at least three times per week, join the Falls Prevention Classes and have a weekly massage, which eases the inevitable aches and pains of the elderly.  All the staff are extremely efficient, friendly and always ready go that extra mile”.

Both villages feature treatment rooms, hair salon and nail bar, a 16-metre swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, a fitness studio and gym with specialised equipment for the over 50s along with the latest cardiovascular equipment, while Letcombe Regis also includes a relaxation room.

Richmond Wellness Spas has partnered with Temple Spa to create an exclusive range of restorative and feel-good treatments.

And as well as the usually pampering treatments, Richmond has devised a special programme tailored to those over 50 who need to get back in shape.  The 12-week gym scheme is available for individuals with a specific or long-term health condition, and in consultation with their GP, exercise can be tailored to help with conditions such as osteoporosis, joint replacement, arthritis and cardiac rehabilitation.  Other conditions that can be helped in this way include weight control for those with a BMI of over 30, mild depression, anxiety or stress, arthritis, mild back pain, controlled diabetes, mild to moderate hypertension and dementia.

Derek Maurice can now often be found in the gym at Richmond Letcombe Regis.  “I admit that I wasn’t in great shape when I first moved here, but Declan the fitness professional took me under his wing and soon had me doing exercises I initially thought would be impossible.”

Spa membership is free to Richmond residents, and limited membership is available to those over 50 living nearby.  Members have full use of all the facilities, a free induction session to the gym, a 15% discount on Temple Spa treatments and products as well as being able to take part in any of the classes free of charge.  12-month membership costs £70 per calendar month.
