RICHMOND VILLAGES WINS MORE AWARDS!
Gold Award for the Best Retirement Development category at the What House? Awards 2007
Following on from its success in the Daily Mail UK Property Awards, Richmond Villages has won gold in the Best Retirement Development category at this year’s What House? Awards, for its latest retirement village in Painswick, Gloucestershire.
The prestigious award was presented at the official awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London.
Describing the winning development, the judges said: “These Cotswold stone buildings use sensational architecture in a beautiful setting, and are set around a five-acre site to maximise views of the rolling hills.
“The village is designed for both the active elderly and those needing much closer care. In addition, there is a nursing home, where attention has also been paid to orientate windows so that patients can enjoy the countryside views. Apartments - designed from the outside to look like cottages - are grouped to give a feeling of an old-style village rather than a ‘development’.”
Commented Keith Cockell, managing director of Richmond Villages, and the mastermind behind the design of the Painswick retirement village: “Naturally, we are all highly delighted – it’s a great accolade for us as the developer and operator, as well as for our team at Painswick.
“The design and construction of this development has been a considerable challenge, not least because we needed to ensure that it blended subtly with the vernacular of Painswick, itself a quintessential Cotswold village. We had to meet a number of very strict planning and conservation requirements, while also ensuring we provided the highest quality of care and leisure facilities for our residents.”
