Retirement village pioneer Richmond Villages, has announced an introductory offer on its Assisted Living concept that will enable purchasers of selected one or two bedroom apartments to ease their cost of living for the next three years.
Assisted Living bridges the gap between independent living and full time care, and means that a person or couple can enjoy the ideal combination of having their own front door without the worry of preparing meals and doing the daily chores.

Whilst enjoying the privacy of your own apartment (with one or two bedrooms, bathroom, sitting room and kitchenette), Assisted Living is a philosophy of care and support that promotes independence, dignity and well being. By providing supervision or assistance with daily living, people who are finding it difficult to live independently but do not need the 24 hour care provided by a nursing home, are able to enjoy prolonged independence in a safe, caring, socially active and supportive environment.
Assisted Living at Richmond Villages’ newest village at Letcombe Regis in Oxfordshire costs from £515 per week. This includes all fixed living costs – food & drinks, light/heat/power, cleaning, laundry, council tax, service charge and ground rent, but for those exchanging on a one person/one bedroom Assisted Living apartment by October 2009, and completing by February 2010, Richmond is offering a special introductory rate for the next three years so that weekly costs start from £330 per week. The cost per person for double occupancy starts from £385 per week.
Similar offers are also available at Richmond’s villages in Northampton, Painswick in Gloucestershire and Coventry.
Life at a Richmond Village provides residents with endless opportunities to socialise with like minded people and to take part in the many activities organised daily. Facilities include a restaurant, library, a vehicle with full time driver and in some villages a bowling green, swimming pool and spa.

We prepare all meals, which can be taken in a resident’s apartment or the restaurant, and there’s a daily maid and laundry service. Our own on-site domiciliary care team provides help, as much or as little as is needed, 24 hours a day. The Assisted Living package also includes all utility bills and full use of the facilities within the village. It’s a great place to live.

Richmond Letcombe Regis
The £60m Richmond Letcombe Regis retirement village near Wantage, is the only facility of its type in Oxfordshire. It comprises Village Apartments (for independent living), Assisted Living Apartments and a Care Home, and is on schedule to open in February 2010.
The new village will also have a wellness spa with a swimming pool, gym, health and beauty treatment rooms and a hair salon; other facilities include a café, restaurant, shop, craft and IT room, library and a bowling green.
Accommodation
The village includes a range of deluxe properties, which provide Independent Living combined with the reassurance of a secure and sociable community where care and assistance are close at hand if needed. These large properties - averaging 1,000 sq.ft. in size - have a kitchen, living room and one or two bedrooms, with en-suite to the main bedroom.
The Assisted Living apartments include a spacious living room, kitchen, one or two bedrooms and an en suite bathroom.
At the heart of the village will be a care home for those requiring 24 hour personal and nursing care, part of which will be dedicated to specialist dementia care.
Location
The superb location near Wantage, just 10 miles north of junction 14 on the M4, makes it easily accessible for those living near Newbury, Oxford, Reading, Swindon and West London.
Surrounded by beautiful countryside, nestling beneath the Ridgeway and just a few miles from the ancient White Horse chalk carving, the new village has been designed to complement the vernacular of the South Oxfordshire/Berkshire border. The buildings are finished in a traditional, warm and welcoming dark brick and flint style, with the whole site enjoying a rural location comprising landscaped gardens, a meadow with nature trail, large lake and a brook. This nature reserve will have disabled access, and is being managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust. It will also be open to the public.
