SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL ‘JAZZES THINGS UP’ AT RICHMOND VILLAGE, NANTWICH

Music aficionados from Nantwich enjoyed the perfect summer’s day at Richmond Village which held its sixth annual music festival last Sunday.

With 150 people attending, a musical cacophony of jazz and brass band favourites played throughout the event at the retirement village which opened its doors to everyone, for a ‘foot tapping’ Sunday afternoon.

One of the star performers was the Malbank School jazz band, a 30 piece band which entertained an enthusiastic audience with such favourites as “Lullaby of Broadway” and “St Louis Blues”.  Malbank specialises in the performing arts, and the band is already taking the jazz world by storm by having secured a place at the famous Montreux jazz festival in Switzerland in July.  Other performers included:

Visitors also enjoyed an art and craft display by villagers and residents of Richmond Village, as well as the beautiful gardens and delicious food served by the hard-working catering team!

The festival was organised by the Friends of Richmond Village who work closely with the retirement village to put on various fun events and activities throughout the year.

John McWhan, chairman says: “Richmond Nantwich is the perfect setting for this kind of musical extravaganza.  With the extensive gardens and grounds we were able to hold performances both inside and out.

“The fine weather made it a great way to spend a summer’s afternoon whilst allowing residents and their families to enjoy a great social occasion that embraces the local community.”
