HEART PATIENT MAKES SPEEDY RECOVERY AT RICHMOND PAINSWICK

When Mrs Welch was told she had to have a heart operation she knew she’d require post-operative care following the procedure.  She needed to find somewhere she could be given the support and follow up treatment she required, and although family and friends offered to look after her, this would have meant travelling away from her home and put a great responsibility on them.

The answer was to book in to a care room at Richmond Painswick, a purpose-built luxury retirement and care village.  Mrs Welch stayed at the village for just over two weeks and with the care of a dedicated nursing team was well enough to return home in time for Christmas last year.  The convalescent care she received meant she could recuperate at her own pace in a safe, secure and stimulating environment.  Mrs Welch stayed in the nursing home at Richmond Painswick which has just 24 beds and offers an exceptional level of dedicated personal care, with specialist staff on hand day and night.

The team of fully qualified nurses are thoroughly trained in all aspects of elderly care ranging from personal to palliative care.  Additionally, rigorous training and on-going supervision is utilised to ensure high standards are maintained.

Mrs Welch says, “Living in the area, I had heard about Richmond Villages and visited on the open days to see the accommodation and facilities for myself.  Once I knew I was having a heart operation I decided to book a room so that I wouldn’t have to worry about being looked after once I left hospital.

“It was really ideal for me because I was close to all my friends who regularly came to see me, and I was also able to go home to collect anything I needed.  All the staff at Richmond Painswick were extremely professional and kind, and it was such a relief to know the nursing staff were there and I could call on them for assistance at any time, even during the middle of the night.

“The room was lovely and I also had a great view over the valley.  All my meals were brought to me in my room or the dining room and the food was delicious and very well presented.  On my last day I had lunch in the restaurant with a friend and that was particularly enjoyable.”

Mrs Welch is now fully on the road to recovery and will soon be well enough to drive her car again.  She says “My first trip in the car will be to Richmond Painswick to see everyone and catch up on what has happened since I left!”
