ROMANCE BLOSSOMS ON THE BOWLING GREEN
COUPLE AT RICHMOND NANTWICH RETIREMENT VILLAGE JUST MARRIED“Dr Stirling I presume?” were Sue Stirling’s first words to the man she has just married. The couple met twelve months ago at Richmond Nantwich, a luxury retirement village located near to Nantwich town centre.
Romance blossomed as the couple enjoyed many happy hours bowling on the green at Richmond Nantwich. When Sue and Neil decided to marry, Neil sold his property back to the developer, Richmond Villages, and moved into Sue’s apartment, which overlooks the bowling green. The couple were married at St Margaret’s Church, Betley in January.
Sue had been living at Richmond Nantwich for six years, having moved there at the age of 55 with her first husband, Harry Boore. Sue says: “We had been living in Audlem, but when I had a mild heart attack I was told not to do any heavy lifting. Looking after the garden, which I had enjoyed doing, was no-longer an option and we realised we needed a property that required minimal upkeep, as neither of us was getting any younger. Richmond Nantwich was the ideal choice.”
Sadly, Harry passed away 18 months ago, leaving Sue wondering how she was going to make a new life for herself. Sue says: “Harry was still working and his job took him away a great deal; as a result, we didn’t join the various clubs and social activities here. When Harry died, I took up bowls and found this a great way to meet people. Everyone was very kind and supportive.”
Sue met Neil while out walking one day. Neil had recently moved to Richmond Nantwich and a mutual friend had asked him to pop in and introduce himself to Sue and to check she was alright. The couple fell in love and Neil has been checking ever since.
Sue adds: “It is wonderful to find new love when you least expect it. The friendly environment and excellent facilities at Richmond Nantwich make life worry-free, allowing us to live our lives to the full.”
Richmond Nantwich has been designed in the style of a village, with its collection of retirement properties built around a bowling green and courtyard. The striking architecture reflects the historic Tudor buildings of Nantwich itself, with these more recent properties full of ‘period’ character.
The village has an excellent range of facilities, including a beautician, hairdressing salon, village shop, café-bar and restaurants that are on a par with a luxury hotel. There are also numerous clubs and social activities, in addition to various organised trips. The gardens at Richmond Nantwich, which won last year’s Nantwich in Bloom award, can be enjoyed all year round, thanks to a lovely garden room and gazebo.
The development offers a good choice of property styles and different retirement solutions that vary from independent living to 24-hour care should this be required. Regardless of a person’s retirement age, or level of fitness, there is an option to suit.
Currently available at Richmond Nantwich are two bedroom luxury apartments (for those who live totally independent lives) with prices ranging from £220,000 to £277,500 and a collection of serviced suites (each with a galley kitchen, sitting room and bedroom complete with en suite, for those who need some assistance) priced from £140,000 to £170,000. There is currently a waiting list for the close care bedrooms (for those who need 24-hour care).
Richmond Nantwich offers peace of mind, security and a real sense of community. For further information please contact Richmond Nantwich on tel: 01270 629080 or visit www.richmond-villages.co.uk
